Thinking about making the switch to matcha?

Matcha has hit the highs of mainstream popularity in the past few years popping up everywhere in lattes, desserts, fancy restaurants to health food shops.

Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) has been a long-standing favourite beverage for thousands of years and has been studied for its most abundant components polyphenols called catechins. Matcha comes from the very same plant however, the way that it is grown results in a unique nutrient profile boosting the chlorophyll and amino acid content.

Researchers of matcha and its components have unearthed a variety of benefits such as being liver protective, promote cardiovascular health including lowering cholesterol, and even aid in weight loss. Antioxidants in matcha help stabilize harmful free radicals, which are compounds that can damage cells and cause chronic disease.

Adding matcha powder to hot water releases all the nutrients from the entire leaf, meaning it contains more polyphenols called EGCG or epigallocatechin gallate (137x times more to be exact) than simply steeping green tea leaves in water. Think super concentrated free radical fighting goodness!

At Little Wildling Co, we sourced the best of the best organic ceremonial grade matcha powder and added some peppermint powder which creates a uniqueness and helps balance out the bitter nature of matcha, while providing a revitalising but less overstimulating quality to help improve mental clarity.

Minty Matcha is best enjoyed by adding 1/2 – 1 teaspoon of powder to 1/3 hot water (75 degrees is ideal), mix well, top up with up with your favourite warmed milk, add a spoon of raw honey and enjoy!
